After multiple sessions I am happy to offer a diagnosis if it is beneficial to the client. For example, when a clinical diagnosis unlocks services or when a label provides validation and clarity. However, the need to label symptoms according to DSM guidelines can sometimes squeeze the life out of effective therapy. Therefore, I prefer to not build treatment around the DSM.

I do not. Although I have knowledge of the various medications used in the field of mental health and factor the use of medication into treatment plans, I am not authorized to prescribe meds. You would need to see a psychiatrist.

I do not. I am constantly exploring ways to offer affordable care, but unfortunately working with insurance companies is very difficult for small private practices.

I do not typically see anyone under the age of 13, as it is not my area of expertise and there are many other therapists who specialize in caring for children. I do see teenagers.

I have two masters degrees, an MDiv and an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) through the state of Colorado. The “candidate” in that title simply means that my licensure in the state is new and requires two years of supervision. I am also EMDR Trained through the Center for Creative Mindfulness.

Yes. I was a pastor / church-planter for nearly two decades. Like many others, my experience in the church is simply too complicated to summarize in a sentence or two. I am no longer in the church, but happy to work with those who are, as well as those who are in various stages of deconstruction and those who are processing wounds they received in a faith community. I have particular empathy for leaders who feel beat up by unhealthy power structures.

I see the concept of union as being synonymous with wholeness, which is what I want clients to experience. It’s the opposite of feeling disconnected from one’s self and others. It’s about bringing our inner parts and outer relationships into harmony so that we can live more connected, authentic lives.
